So yeah..

It sounds like you guys are up for the challenge, and I am willing to do what it takes to make sure we make this happen.

This is going to be a very real-world look into not only what it takes to survive in the design / make world, but also what it means to ‘bring something into the world’.

I feel like this economic situation is really bringing a lot of the issues into sync.  These issues are ones that designers are happy to throw buzz words at, but rarely tackle on a real level.  Let’s use this opportunity to attack these issues as best we can with the fierce passion of young designers who don’t know any better.

Best case scenario = we fail miserably!  lets figure this out together.

what are the real needs of the consumer in an imploding economy?

what are the needs of a human that afford the label of ‘consumer’?

how can we create without guilt?

how can we solve problems, and provide, AND make a living?

what is industrial design when design firms dwindle and industry scurries like rats toward the cracks in the wall?

yea! it makes my stomach hurt too.   lets make some progress.

Save dropping a pile of cash on the table, there are few things that can captivate an audience in any meeting like an accurate, readable, meaningful quick sketch.

The stress alone can make your lines wiggly and your perspective way out of whack.  But when you become comfortable with this you can really flex your design muscle and solve problems on the spot.

This ‘hand waving’ stuff jsut isnt doing it for me.

try carrying around a notebook and during every chance conversation, open it up and use sketch to suppliment your story / conversation.  This kind of quick diagraming, and perspective representation is not something that just comes naturally.
